How to Find Journal and Magazine Articles

Step One
Write down at least three terms or phrases to describe your research topic. The more related terms or words that you can think of the more research information you will locate in one of the Library’s web databases.

Step Two
Conduct a subject or keyword search in the Library’s online catalog (TROY) to find books about your research topic.

Step Three
Choose the most appropriate Library online database for your topic to find full-text journal articles or journal citations from one of the following subject areas:  

Accounting Agriculture Art and Design Biology Chemistry and Physics Computer Science, Engineering, and Mathematics Criminal Justice, Social Work, and Sociology Economics and Finance Education Health, Physical Education, and Recreation

History, Philosophy, and Religion Language and Literature Management Marketing Mass Communication Military Science Music Political Science and Public Administration Psychology

Step Four
For Library online databases that provide only the journal citation information, you must search the Library’s online catalog (TROY) to see if the Library owns that journal or magazine in its collection.
