In 1963 Virginia Governor Albertis Harrison at a press conference announced that the children of Prince Edward County would return to school in the fall, a privately financed school would function for one year in an effort to assess the damage of the previous four years without public education. The Governor announced the formation of the Prince Edward County Free School. Seen here are the trustees. The members of the board of trustees were: sitting left to right Dr. Robert P.
