The 4-H Club was one of the most popular organizations in the Prince Edward County Schools. Many of the young men were also members of the Future Farmers of America and many young ladies belonged to the Future Homemakers of Americas clubs. Both clubs were formed at Virginia State University in the 1930s and provided a forum for young people to learn the responsibilities of citizenship.
