Fifty years have
elapsed since the Supreme Court ruled that segregation in public
schools based on “colored” is unconstitutional. This
exhibit explores some of the history of education for African Americans
in Prince Edward County, Virginia. The materials used may be found
in the Johnston Memorial Library Department of Special Collections/University
Archives. The photographs and documents are from the Archie G. Richardson
Papers, the Prince Edward County Free School Papers and the Virginia
Teachers Association Papers |
